Bank of America and the trackers don't agree on the Atmos Summit bonus. Check which page you're on

Bank of America's own card page shows 70,000 points. Several trackers reported 100,000 plus a companion award in late October.

In short

The welcome offer on the Atmos Rewards Summit Visa Infinite varies noticeably by landing page, with Bank of America's own listing showing a smaller figure than third-party reports from late October.

If you are looking at the Atmos Rewards Summit, the new $395 premium card from Alaska and Hawaiian's combined loyalty program, be careful which application page you land on.

Bank of America's own card listing page shows 70,000 bonus points, labeled as a limited-time online offer, without publishing a spending requirement. Several independent trackers reported a different version in late October: 100,000 points plus a 25,000-point Global Companion Award after $6,000 of spending in 90 days, seen active between 22 and 24 October.

Both can be true at once. Issuers routinely run different offers through different channels, and co-branded airline cards are among the worst for this because the airline, the bank and various affiliate links all point at different landing pages.

What to do about it

Compare at least two application links before you apply, and read the offer terms on the page you actually submit from rather than the one you read about. The difference here is 30,000 points plus a companion award, which is not a rounding error.

The same caution applies to the Ascent, the $95 card that used to be called the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature. Bank of America's page shows 50,000 points after $1,500 in 90 days. Trackers have reported an 80,000-point version structured as 60,000 after $3,000 and another 20,000 once you reach $5,000. Again, both versions probably exist.

Bank of America applies its 2/3/4 rule to these cards, so if you have been opening Bank of America accounts recently that is the first thing to check.
