Restrictions worth knowing
- The $300 credit only works inside Capital One Travel. Compare the portal price against booking direct before using it.
- Capital One applies its own application rules, and some applicants are limited in how many Capital One cards they can hold.
How to use it well
- If you use the travel credit and the anniversary miles, the effective fee is around $85 for a card that earns 2x on everything.
- 2x everywhere makes it a reasonable default card, which is unusual for a premium product.
- Miles transfer to airline and hotel partners, which is where the higher values usually sit. Portal redemptions at a fixed rate are simpler but normally worth less.
