Tool
Redemption Value Evaluator
The one calculation worth running before any redemption: what are you actually getting per point, and does it beat what you could get otherwise?
Estimates, not cash. Points and miles have no fixed cash value. Everything this tool produces is arithmetic on the numbers you type and the assumptions listed below them. It is not a quote, not a valuation and not financial advice.
The total you would actually pay, including taxes and fees.
Taxes and carrier-imposed surcharges you pay on top of the points.
What you could reliably get otherwise, for example a portal rate.

Assumptions and limitations
- Cents per point is calculated as the cash you avoid, minus taxes and fees still payable on the award, divided by the points spent.
- Accounting for forgone earning is optional but more honest: paying cash would have earned points too, so a redemption costs you those as well.
- The verdict compares against the benchmark you type. Change the benchmark and the verdict changes.
- The biggest error this tool cannot catch: valuing a cash fare you would never actually have bought. If you would not have paid $6,000 for the seat, redeeming points for it has not saved you $6,000.
- Award tickets are often more flexible to change or cancel than cheap cash fares. That flexibility has real value and is not counted here.
