| 1.5x | Every purchase | Longstanding published rate; not re-confirmed on the listing page. |
Benefits and credits
- Unlimited Discover Match Miles earned in the first year are matched, which makes the effective first-year rate 3x.
- No annual fee
- No foreign transaction fees
Restrictions worth knowing
- Miles redeem at a fixed value against travel purchases or as a statement credit. They do not transfer to airline or hotel partners.
- Discover acceptance is narrower than Visa or Mastercard.
How to use it well
- In year one the match makes this one of the highest flat-rate returns available. From year two it is an ordinary 1.5% card.
- If you want miles you can transfer to airlines, this is not that card. Look at Capital One or Chase.
