Status

Citi acquired Barclays' American Airlines co-brand portfolio and became the sole issuer of AAdvantage cards. Transfer of eligible Aviator accounts began 24 April 2026, with new Citi cards shipping from 27 April 2026. Aviator Red accounts were converted to the Citi / AAdvantage Platinum Select World Elite Mastercard. This page is kept as a reference because the name is still widely listed elsewhere.

Not verified. We could not confirm this card's earning rates against a page we could read during this build, so none are listed. We would rather leave this blank than print a number we have not checked. The issuer's own product page has the current rates.

Benefits and credits

No benefits are listed here because we could not verify them during this build.

Restrictions worth knowing

  • No new applications. Barclays no longer issues AAdvantage cards.
  • Account settings such as autopay and alerts did not carry across to Citi. Barclays autopay scheduled on or after 24 April 2026 was canceled.
  • Balances did carry over, and Barclays Easy Pay plans became Citi Flex Plans.

How to use it well

  • If you were converted, check that autopay and alerts are set up again on the Citi account.
  • Compare the Platinum Select's benefits against the Aviator Red's before deciding whether to keep paying the fee.
  • Other Aviator products mapped differently: Aviator (standard) went to AAdvantage MileUp, Aviator Blue to AAdvantage Gold, Aviator Silver to AAdvantage Globe, and the Aviator Business to the AAdvantage Business card.

Sources and freshness

What we checked: Conversion dates and card mapping from AwardWallet, read 2 November 2026. Independently consistent with the card's absence from American Airlines' own card page the same day.
